A commissioned drawing of one rancher's stages of training bits. 15 x 23 conte' crayon on bark paper. I just finished it - will try to get a better photo in a few days (after I stack books on it to press it flat, haha)

Was the 3rd stage bit modeled after a Garcia bit? I believe that's what it is called, we have one with very similar shanks, so I'm curious ^^;

Could be - I am not sure what it is called.  It is kind of a combination bit and hackamore

Got it, it sorta looks like a spade bit but usually those are finished horse bridles only, so I don't think it is. This looks great though :)
